Nature Center Visit

The 4th and 5th grade students took a trip to the Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary - Houston Audubon to go on a nature walk and learn about native flora and fauna, aquatic life, animals, and other biofacts.

Discussing Continents in Arabic Class

In the 4th grade Arabic class, students combined their geography knowledge by conversing about continents in Arabic to their classmates. This is yet another example of the way we integrate various subjects with one another to create a holistic learning environment.

Math League Competition

Our 3rd through 7th graders represented ILM Academy for the first time in the city's Math League competition and one of our 3rd graders grades won the 2nd place prize for his grade level, masha'Allah! Also, we were the only Islamic school at this competition. We are so proud of all of our students who set out to train for the competition for the first time. We thank our teacher, Ms. Amal Z., and one of our parents for taking out time from their busy schedules to train our students. See more pictures on our Facebook page.

Basketball Tournament

Our middle school students headed to another campus for the annual Islamic school basketball tournament, where students from the Islamic schools citywide come together for a day of fun and competition. We are proud of our students for practicing hard and being team players. Most of all, we commend them on their generosity in supporting one another. One day, our students may become the masters of skill like Michael Jordan or inspiring coaches like Phil Jackson or neither, but either way they go, we know they will be leaders somewhere. For that, our students are winning every day. See more pictures on our Facebook page.

Learning to Make Wudu'

What better way to learn to make wudu' than to partake in a demonstration? Our lower elementary Islamic Studies teacher, Ms. Amel B., took our 1st grade students outside to get down with hands on learning. Students took turns showing how to make wudu'. Here's a quiz for you: What's the first step of wudu'? Did you say washing your hands? Our 1st graders would have pointed at their hearts, an indication they use in class that the first step is to make the intention in your heart :) See more pictures on our Facebook page.
