In preparing for their Children of Charity project (Pennies for Peace) the 4th grade students read "Three Cups of Tea," held a ParTEA in which they shared poems they penned. They also made coin collection boxes in which they will collect funds for Pennies for Peace. See more pictures on our Facebook page.

Islamic Art Festival

Our students participated in the citywide Islamic Art Festival with their artwork from the academic year, featuring abstract, subject, and etch art, as well as calligraphy. We were very proud of our students' participation and their being awarded 4th place among the Islamic schools.

Grandparents Lunch

Our favorite event of the year is always grandparents lunch. It is a day our students connect with their grandparents, the ones whose legacy they are continuing, in the school that gives these students to fulfill their legacies. We thank all of our grandparents (and parents, aunts, and uncles of course!) for coming out and spending the afternoon with our students. Also, thank you to our teachers who had lunch with the students whose families could not make it. You are nothing short of family to them. :) See more pictures on our Facebook page.

Reading Buddies

In light of this being book fair week, here is an album of how our middle school students inspire their younger peers to read. Middle school students take some of their advisory periods to come down the stairs and sit in small chairs or criss-cross apple-sauce style on the floor to read books in both English and Arabic to the Montessori, 1st, and 2nd grade students. Who enjoys it more: middle school or the younger students? :) See more pictures on our Facebook page.

Police Officer Visit

Officer Bill came in from monitoring the playground to talk to our younger students about the role of a police officer and stranger danger. He also spoke to our older students about making good choices and the consequences of bad ones, cyber safety, and the details of different ways a police officer may protect and serve the community. See more pictures on our Facebook page.
